Catching up (more)

1:00pm. 4th coffee. Trying desperately to recollect my movements last week. No not those movements. My activity.

Ahhh. Remembering. (Sidebar. Foot note. I have started typing ‘remebering’ without the second ‘m’. Of course that necessitates a ruthless editing pass to correct all my mistakes.) Oh for the days when everything I did was perfect. Deep sigh.

A casual glance at my sparsely populated calendar reveals one holy event and a few ‘also rans’.

Monday was the birthday of my beautiful UK cousin. A happy time that I obviously used as an excuse to feel sad. Sad that I couldn’t be joining the celebration in person. A total shit! a deeper sigh.

Eye update time. On Wednesday I had an (overdue) eye test. The slow collapse of my visual acuity is very frustrating. I am now at the point where the focal point between looking at the monitors and the keyboard varies enough to the point one or the other goes out of focus. It is straining and tiring.

I have never had a love of multi-focal lenses but I now admit that I need them. My eyes are not adjusting to the few centimeters difference in the radius of the arc between monitors and keyboard. I hate getting old. Unavoidable but doesn’t have to be blindly accepted. Giggle. Get it? Blindly.

I left both pairs of ‘working’ glasses with the optician. I want to retain the frames. They are the most expensive part of the spectacle. Look I did it again. Play on words. Spectacle?! Geez I’m good.

He says they may be gone at least 2 weeks. So I am using ‘older’ glasses. It works for the monitor and keyboard directly in front of me but the monitor on my right, another few centimeters distant, is just out of focus. Reading emails and the calendar requires that little bit more effort and patience. Ho hum.

Wait for it…………………….. Another deeper sigh.

and I keep typing montior! Fuck it!!!

    Alas…..the eyes are in decline.
I fear I too will need spectacles for more than just reading when the text is font size 6 or smaller at my next review!!!!

I have a new laptop and I am constantly typing my own version of words….the key pad insists on it….i do not like Windows 10 or whatever system I am now on……the most modern one….
